Ramen craving time!  Marutama Ra-men is a Ramen place located on Bidwell Street near Robson.  It is a chained Ramen Bar not only in Japan but also some places in Asia. We were there around 8pm so there was no line up and actually some tables were empty and available.  However, we still got to wait quite a while to be seated because the servers looked very busy and kept walking in front of us.  Literally, we were waiting the server not table.

So what is so special at Marutama?!  The soup base from ramen joints is pork broth.  The soup at Marutama is essence from chicken.  It is a rich and special chicken broth with very unique flavors.  Heard their soft boiled flavored egg is very famous too!

My noodles:  Marutama Tamago Ramen @ $10.50

The noodles was good, chewy texture but it was not the thick noodles I like.  The chicken base soup was very thick, creamy and flavorful!  The broth was very hot when serving and still hot enough when I was about to finish it.  Meat quality was okay but not impressive. 

The soft boiled flavored egg was so good!!!  The egg was boiled perfectly and the yolk was very creamy.

Hubby's noodles: Marutama Zenbu Ramen @ $18

WOW!  Very delicious and rich broth but not salty at all.

 I know I have said it many times but I still have to say "Kintaro" is better overall after tasting Marutama.  Nevertheless, Marutama is definitely one of the best ramen among the latest new Ramen joints.  For noodles, I miss Benkei's egg flavor noodles a lot too!  We totally understand that ramen place is for quick meal so not to occupy the table after finishing the bowl of ramen.  There was no more line up but we felt like they were still trying us to go quick.
