604 Just Eat: Cantonese Cafe @ Smart and Save Cafe

April 2nd , 2016

Smart and Save Cafe @ Richmond

Food:  3/5   Service:  3/5   Atmosphere:  2.5/5   Price:  Avg. $7.5/person

I heard some raving comments of Smart and Save Café, specialized in Hong Kong style local street food or snacks.  We decided to check it out on Saturday for late lunch.
We wanted to order the Chinese sticky rice and deep fried prawn paste toast but they were sold out already!  I was mad craving for the HK style fish paste siu mai but again it was sold out too.  OMG it was only 1pm when we got there and I heard these dishes were so good too….  Now I got the idea why granny always said “early birds catch the worm”.  Oh well, I was lil disappointed but there were other food we could try.  We ordered the waffle and the mixed sauce plain rice roll with the HK style milk tea.
Hong Kong style milk tea @ $2.50
Pretty good, smooth and tasty but not strong tea flavor enough.

604 Just Eat: Cantonese Cafe @ Peaches Cafe

Jun 21st, 2015

Peaches Café @ Central Richmond

Food:  2/5   Service:  1/5   Atmosphere:  2/5   Price:  Avg. $10/person

NEVER COME BACK!
As usual, we were trying to pick a place for lunch in Richmond on a typical Sunday.  Wandering into Alexandra road, we ended up decide to try Peaches Café.  We have never been here before.  Former restaurant was Cattle Café at this location I think.  Peaches Café is a typical Hong Kong style café; food is acceptable at this price range.  However, service was terrible and unorganized.  We placed our order after we were seated immeidately.  We sensed that something gone wrong after 30 minutes.  Plus, we saw some unhappy and grumpy faces at other tables.  We asked the waitress about our order.  She just told us to wait.  We asked again after another 10 minutes and we got the same answer.  At last our dishes came after another 10 minutes.  We saw a lady was waiting for her take out at least 1 hour.  She was there when we sat down and still there when I was eating my baked pork chop with rice.  OMG!!!

604 Just Eat: Self Served Cafe (Hong Kong Style) @ Cafe Loyal [來佬•快餐室]

Feb. 24th, 2015

Café Loyal [來佬•快餐室] @ Bridgeport Road

Food:  2/5   Service:  2.5/5   Atmosphere:  1/5   Price:  1.5/5

We came here for dinner due to the curiosity about the high rating on Urbanspoon.  Café Loyal is a self served restaurant; you place order and pay at the front counter, then you receive a ticket to pick up your food when it is ready. Décor is plain and simple.

BBQ Pork and Roasted Duck on Rice Meal.
A soup, a drink and tax all included.  This was a meat lover portion.
I like this BBQ Pork; 80% Lean 20% Fat.
Roasted Duck was too salty to me.
Veggie was overcooked with oyster sauce, bad.

Baked Pork Chop on Rice Set
A drink, a soup and tax all included.
It was totally a classic Hong Kong Café style of Baked Pork Chop on Rice.  The pork chop was coated with a thin layer of egg batter for baking.  Delicious!

Overall, the food quality was good.  It is a good place to look for a quick bite or take out; however, the location is not that convenient compared with other food courts near No. 3 road area.
