The Wooden Spoon @ White Rock
Food: 3.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Price: Avg. $30 person
Great weekend brunch spot in White Rock. Heard a lot of rave reviews about this popular brunch spot but did not get down trying it before. We were there for the first time on Sunday so the restaurant was extremely busy, be prepared to wait for a while or try to go earlier. I like the decor, modern and trendy. The Atmosphere was good too, lively and friendly. Portions were generous at reasonable price range. Good food quality and dishes were delicious.
WAKE UP! Jumbo French pressed coffee, lovely! For those who simply cannot survive without a cup of coffee in the morning, included myself. LOL. Compared with the French pressed from Twisted Fork, I like the coffee here.
Best brunch cocktails! My cocktail was served in a jar with coconut water and basil, very refreshing and delicious!
The Benny's Short Rib @ $15.75
Slow braised beef short rib, with house made kahlua jus, two poached eggs, pickled onions, horseradish aioli, swiss cheese on a buttermilk biscuit, covered in hollandaise, served with potato fritters & chickpea salad
Many delicious dishes on the menu and I picked the short rib benny.
The eggs were light poached, my favorite! The short ribs were so tender and flavorful, tasted amazing with the half melted swiss cheese. Harsh brown in ball shape and the chic pea salad was good! The hollandaise sauce was a bit bland.
The Sweet and Salty @ $14.75
Thick cut french toast topped with maple bacon, aged cheddar two poached eggs, hollandaise & maple syrup
Hubby picked the sweet and salty, an interesting and impressive dish. The french toast was very good and matching with the bacon. The balance of the sweet and salty was well balanced.
The Wooden Spoon has become my favorite restaurant in White Rock and we'll be back in the near future.
