YAYYYYY!!!  Hubby and I wanted to celebrate our beautiful Canada day with a happy brunch!  We decided to try West Oak.  West Oak is located on Mainland street in Yaletown specialized in Canadian/Pacific Northwest cuisine.  We have never been there before.  We found this place when we were searching places for causal brunch on open table.  They had a small menu but looked good with lots of selections.

NEVER COME BACK!
As usual, we were trying to pick a place for lunch in Richmond on a typical Sunday.  Wandering into Alexandra road, we ended up decide to try Peaches Café.  We have never been here before.  Former restaurant was Cattle Café at this location I think.  Peaches Café is a typical Hong Kong style café; food is acceptable at this price range.  However, service was terrible and unorganized.  We placed our order after we were seated immeidately.  We sensed that something gone wrong after 30 minutes.  Plus, we saw some unhappy and grumpy faces at other tables.  We asked the waitress about our order.  She just told us to wait.  We asked again after another 10 minutes and we got the same answer.  At last our dishes came after another 10 minutes.  We saw a lady was waiting for her take out at least 1 hour.  She was there when we sat down and still there when I was eating my baked pork chop with rice.  OMG!!!

Salmon Don
After having salmon don at Yah Yah Ya, we wanted to make our own homemade version.    
We pan fried the salmon instead of grilling; some light seasoning would be good enough.  Then added some mayonnaise and raw green onions on top.    Trust me, the mayonnaise with the baby logo and raw green onions are very important ingredients to salmon don.  LAZY and FLAVORFUL one-dish meal for the day!

Pho King Thai Hoa is located in Circle Square on Kingsway near boundary road intersection.  Thank you so much my sweet colleague, Miss A for bringing me there. 

Sida, AKA Pho Queen would not miss a chance to try more pho joints in lower mainland.  LOL.  It is one of the lunch spots near our office, about 5 minutes ride.  I admit that I've become more picky on Pho quality standard so I would rate Pho King Thai Hoa average for pho quality and below average for the services.

HealthFare is a fast health food restaurant located in Market Crossing on Marine Way in South Burnaby; it is about 15 minutes ride from office.  Thank you 'Miss A' again bringing us there!  HealthFare serves quick health meals such as salads, sandwiches, rice bowls, and some other healthy choices with the calorie counts indicated by each item on the menu.  Interesting!  I forgot to photo shoot the menu;  the combo price was around $18.  The lunch combo included rice bowl + 1 choice of sides + Smoothies.

McDonald's @ New Westminster

I rarely write about fast food chains but I like to write one for McLobster, one of the limited time offer items during summer time.  McDonald's says the McLobster features 100 per cent Canadian Atlantic lobster meat.  Well.. I only worry whether the lobster is fresh enough.  I did not finish the whole bun by myself.  I actually shared it with two colleagues.  We just wanted to try out the taste and not intentionally fill up our stomach.

Thai Son Restaurant @ Central Richmond

Thai Son Restaurant is located on 2nd floor of the plaza on Garden City.
We used to go their another location on East Boardway in Vancouver which the quality is good and stable generally.  I think it is the best one among all Thai Son locations.   It's been a LONG LONG time since my last visit in Richmond location; probably at least 5 years.  Thai Son in Richmond location was not on my PHO favorite list before since the overall quality was not outstanding in my memory.  Well... memory could be wrong!  Great meal with bunch of good friends and their kiddos!
