604 Just Eat: Chinese Cuisine @ Yuan's Shanghai Serendipity Cuisine

March 13th , 2016

Yuan's Shanghai Serendipity Cuisine @ Richmond

Food:  3/5   Service:  3/5   Atmosphere:  3.5/5   Price:  Avg. $30/person

Yuan’s Shanghai Serendipity Cuisine is an authentic Shanghaiese restaurant located on no.3 road.  It was our first time coming to Yuan's.  Inside the restaurant it is very authentic Chinese style with all the wooden furniture and decorations, fancy style.  Other than the signature dishes that you expect in a Shanghaiese cuisine restaurant, they also have a lot of Szechuan dishes on the menu, bold and spicy flavors with lots of garlic and chili peppers.  Their dishes were very rich in flavors, seasonings and sauces which toward to the characteristics of Northern Chinese cuisine.  l can handle mild spicy but I definitely cannot manage the spicy level of the dishes at Yuan's.  I got to drink a lot of tea because of few spicy dishes during the dinner.

604 Just Eat: Chinese Cuisine - Hot Pot @ Taiwan Taipei Original Pot

Nov 8th, 2015

Taiwan Taipei Original Pot @ Central Richmond

Food:  4/5   Service:  3.5/5   Atmosphere:  4/5   Price:  Avg. $30/person

It was my very first visit and I was very excited to try the Taiwanese Hua Diao Chicken pot.  Taiwan Taipei Original Pot is located in Venezia Place on Alexandra Road so beware it could be bloody hard to find a parking spot during weekend.  I heard a lot of raving comments about Taiwan Taipei Original Pot and the interesting steps to enjoy the hot pot.
Unlike the typical Chinese hot pot places, the staff cooks for us and the toppings are cooked in a pot of sauce, not a full pot of soup base.  In general there are three steps.  First, eat the stirred-fry chicken in the pot. Second, add different toppings into the left over sauce and braise them. The toppings are such as beef slices, meat balls, noodles and etc. Lastly, add vegetables cook in soup.

604 Just Eat: Chinese Cusine @ Zhao's Soup House

Aug 9th, 2015

Zhao's Soup House @ Central Richmond

Food:  3.5/5   Service:  3.5/5   Atmosphere:  3.5/5   Price:  Avg. $20 person

Zhao's Soup House is an authentic Chinese Restaurant located on ground floor in the same building with the Jade Chinese Restaurant on Alexandra Road.  It is a heaven place if you are a big fan of Chinese soup.  At first I thought their dishes toward to the Northern side which are more rich in flavors with seasoning, sauces and greasy kinds.  I was totally wrong; the dishes were not salty and greasy at all.  It is a good alternative option of Chinese food other than Canton style.  We enjoyed our family dinner a lot here on Sunday night.
Very authentic Chinese decorations with the red wooden furniture.

Shang Noodle House @ Central Richmond

Food:  3.5/5   Service:  3.5/5   Atmosphere:  3/5   Price:  Avg. $12 person

We were wandering and looking for lunch place in Richmond on the usual Sunday afternoon.  We wanted to eat something light and not oily; therefore, we decided to try out Shang Noodle House.  Shang Noodle House is located on Saba Road in central Richmond.  It is a Chinese noodle bar offering different kinds of noodles, soup base and toppings.  Although the location is convenient and easy access, there are very limited free parking spots available.  We paid to park on the street instead.
For hubby:  Red Reishi Mushroom Ramen @ $10.38
Very light and simple soup base; not greasy and salty at all.  Good vegetarian choice!

A friend strongly recommended me to come and try this congee place so we chose to come at a Thursday night.
Oh-oh, they are more than just a congee place.  They serve congee at the day time and they switch to serve traditional Chinese dishes at the night time.  Although we could not try their congee this time, I am very happy to enjoy the Chinese dishes that we ordered.
MUST EAT:  Stir Fried Rice Cake with Chicken

Attentive and friendly service.

We headed to Chinatown for a walk in the afternoon so how can I miss the famous Hainanese Chicken Rice place at Maxwell?!  It was one of the MUST TRY items on my list.  Luckily the queue was short @ 3pm.  Big tip is try to avoid busy lunch hours.

OMG delicious!!!
Chicken was so juicy and half melted in my mouth. Very tender, flavorful and blended well with their homemade sauces and the rice heavenly!
The rice was extremely fragrant and unbeatable, I bet they must have secret recipe!
Highly recommended, you cannot go wrong here @ Tian Tian.

Even Gordon Ramsay said so too?

Meal set for 1 person,  Accompanied with soup, chili and black sauce.

The steamed boneless chicken was so tender and almost melted in my mouth!
It was soooo delicious.

The rice was well absorbed the essence of chicken, garlic and ginger, soft and fluffy!

51 Soya Bean is freshly made on site.

I tried both Original and Almond flavors.  I like the texture a lot!  Unlike the Chinese style Tofu Fa, it was more like pudding style and nice good flavor of soy bean.
The pudding was so smooth and almost melted in my mouth.
