Sushi Garden @ South Burnaby
Food: 4/5 Service: 1.5/5 Atmosphere: 2/5 Price: Avg. $15/person
I have read lots of reviews about the great value and long queues of Sushi Garden. Heard it is the best Korean sushi joint in town. Hubby chose to come here on the way home from our road trip. He has been to this place before but this was my first time visit.
We arrived at 6pm and I did not expect the restaurant was extremely busy and packed with crazy long line up already. Our wait time was about 50-min.
.
Another 45-min long wait for the food to come out. We asked the server about our order after 30-min and her reply was 'sorry, sushi bar is very busy today". I strongly believed that she missed out our order. Few tables of people near us came and ordered after us but they started eating already. Our sushi finally came in after another 15 minutes. The server gave us the salad and miso soup for free while waiting
Saba @ $1 each / Chopped Scallop @ $1.3 each / Toro @ $1.3 each/
Hotate @ $1.50 each/ Uni @ $2.50 each/ Amaebi @ $1.8 each
I was surprised how decent and fresh the nigiri sushi were. Uni,saba and toro were so fresh and tasty. Not recommended amaebi; too small in size.
Crab loves Papaya Roll (Deep fried crab meat) @ $3.95
Above average quality roll at a very low price!
For sure Sushi Garden is not one of the premium authentic sushi joints in town. I would say Sushi Garden is one of the best budget Japanese restaurant for some good sushi. I am amazed for what I had at this (low) price point. However, do not go there if you are in a rush or look for excellent and attentive service in the restaurant.
