Penang Delight Cafe @ Marpole
Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 Price: Avg. $25/person
Penang Delight Cafe is an authentic Malaysian restaurant located in Marpole. We went there for dinner with a group of 5 to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was my first time visit and I was very excited the wide selection of Malaysian and Singaporean food on the menu. I have been craving the traditional flavors of Malaysian and Singaporean food badly after my Asia trip few months ago.
Bamboo décor outside the entrance.
Oriental atmosphere and décor with lots of photos on the wall.
Tiger Beer@ $5.55
No special.
It was my first time to try this shrimp roll. Actually they were not made from shrimps as the name. It was a deep fried pork meat ball with crunchy texture on the outside. A friend told me that it is a Chiu Chow snack he used to eat with family during Chinese New Year. Tasted good!
Light and crispy!
It was good! Very close to the taste in Singapore and totally satisfied my craving.
Flavorful and the meat was so tender. Good combo to eat with the roti. Thumbs up!
So-so and it was not the kind I had in Singapore. SAD.
Different from the original taste...
Piping hot!
The dishes we had were generally tasty. Close enough to authentic but not the original and exotic flavors what I had in Malaysia and Singapore. Probably it was because the local ingredients like herbs and spices are not available here. Service was okay at our meal; it was not as bad as the reviews mentioned. Servings were small at this price range. I would like to go check out Penang Delight at another location next time.
