If you are a big fan of Korean rice cake, this restaurant will definitely fascinate you by their full menu of both savory and sweet rice cake.  Other than the rice cake desserts, they also have incredible selections of shaved ice desserts, parfaits and waffles.  However, I do agree with other reviews that they really need to work harder on the services.  They were nice and polite but definitely lack of servers.  The waiting time to order was way longer than expected and the dishes came slow too.

The atmosphere is quite causal and chill, I got it why lots of young people like to hang out here now.

The decoration is very interesting, it is all related to basketball from a huge portable basketball hoop to basketball shoes and Kobe Bryant posters.  Obviously the owner is a huge fan of NBA.

Banchan come with the meals, love the kimchi, super delicious!

Spicy rice cake soup @ $11.99

Impressive!  Probably one of the best spicy soup in town!  The rice cake texture was so soft and chewy, going perfect with the spicy soup and the toppings in it.  The spicy soup was a little spicy for me but still I really like the taste, it was super flavorful.

Black sesame soy milk shaved ice @ $11.49

Absolutely fantastic!  Taste as good as it looks!!!!  The shaved ice was super fluffy snow with lots of toppings included black sesame ice cream, mochi, nuts, red bean and lots of sesame on top.  The texture and flavor of the shaved ice was so soft compared with other shaved ice places, it was not like ice but snow texture and melted in my mouth immediately.  The soy milk shaved ice was very delicious and perfect match to eat with the toppings.  The shaved ice was big and good enough to share between 2-4 people.  Heaven!

We enjoyed our first meal experience at Midam, decent savory and sweet dishes at a reasonable price range.  We'll definitely come back for the hot pot later, nothing beats a piping hot spicy rice cake pot in the winter!
