604 Just Eat: Japanese Cuisine @ Guu Kobachi

Apr. 3rd, 2015

Guu Kobachi @ West End

Food:  3.5/5   Service:  3.5/5   Atmosphere:  3/5   Price:  Avg. $35/person

MUST EAT:  Aburi Salmon, Gratin
Guu Kobachi, one of the Guu family Izakaya places in Vancouver West End area.
It was a lovely Izakaya place to have a small bite and a drink.  As the name suggests, "kobachi" means small dishes or appys.  It is a good place to go in small groups and you can try more dishes at a time.

The place is quite small so group of 2 to 4 would be easier to get a table or seat by the bar without long waiting time.

We were seated at the bar table.

  Little hot bath for Sake!

 My 3-kind Sake tasting @ $12

Beer for Hubby @ $6.80

Other than the regular menu, they also have daily specials sheet for the day, April 3rd the Guuu'd Friday.

Takowasa @ $4.60
Fresh and delicious.  It was about half portion of the standard one at other Guu joints.

Shiokara @ $3.90
My hubby's favorite!  Tasty and flavorful;  Guu standard.

Edamame @ $3.90
It is deep fried with salt and seasoning.
A lil salty to me but hubby said it was so good to pair with his beer.

Aburi Salmon @ $5.50
Cajun spiced seared salmon sashimi with onion dressing
We love it!!

Duck @ $5.90
Roasted duck with house wasabi dressing
so-so.

Yukke @ $5.90
Sweet sesame soy sauce marinated tuna sashimi and avocado with wasabi mayo
The soy sauce was strong and covered the flavor of wasabi mayo.

Gratin @ $6.90
Mochi (sticky rice cake), tomato, zucchini & mushroom creamy cheese gratin
Not enough mochi!  It was interesting and tasty, must try!

Okonomiyaki @ $4.00
Japanese style pancake
Average and I like the size and shape just like a piece of toast.

I like the mini version idea!  Smaller portion and cheaper price allow us to order few more dishes tonight.  Dishes were delicious overall; great and friendly services as expected from Guu family.

  1. I Like this place alot, but the Sake just a bit pricy.
If trying 2 round 1/2 litre Sake, it costs me min. $80...

All the FOODs are so good to pair up with either Sake or white wine.
