604 Just Eat: French Cuisine @ Absinthe Bistro

March 26th , 2016

Absinthe Bistro @ Grandview

Food:  4.5/5   Service:  4.5/5   Atmosphere:  4.5/5   Price:  Avg. $50/person

Great time at Absinthe Bistro!!!  This little Bistro totally worth the hype.  Absinthe Bistro is a lovely little Bistro on Commercial drive, specialized in blends of classic and French cuisine.  I love this little place just like a small cafe we were in Europe.  I love die the interior décor with the casual atmosphere.   We had the window seat which was perfect for the evening.  The price is very reasonable at this excellent food quality, wonderful and attentive service.  Dishes were well prepared and presented.  I fall in love with this little authentic Parisian Bistro.

I like the idea of the limited menu, the French menu offers 3 choices of starts, 3 mains and 3 desserts to choose from.  Fixed menu price of starter + main course + dessert of your choice is $41.  It was much more simple to pick my choices plus it means they must be good!  The best ingredients and bring to perfection by the chef.  They change menu quite often accordingly to what's fresh in the season.  Our menu was for the spring season, so always check the seasonal menu on their website first.

Our drinks

Starter:  Creamy Tomato Soup with Shrimp
Hubby chose the tomato soup.  It was prepared with fresh tomatoes, white wine and tiny shrimp.  It was absolutely delicious and outstanding flavors.  The tiny shrimp was so fresh.  It was so tasty that I actually finished it.  I miss this soup so much.

Starter:  Tuna Marinated with Lemon and Horseradish

Originally it was my starts, switched with hubby after I tasted the creamy tomato soup.  I ate few pieces tuna and they were so fresh and tasty.  Fresh ingredients did not need a lot seasonings and flavors at all.  Simply marinated with lemon was good enough.

Main:  Seared Scallops, Sauteed Spinach, Beurre Blanc, with Potato Puree
My main.  The quality was excellent, seared and cooked perfectly.  Super delicious!

Main:  Slow Braised Lamb Shank and Apples in Red Wine Sauce with Parsnip Puree
Hubby’s main.  Omg it was amazingly good.  The lamb was so tender and juicy, slow braised to perfection like the meat melted in my mouth.  And the sauce too, it was divine!!!

Dessert:  Rice Pudding with a Salted Caramel Sauce
I love it!  Happy sweet tooth!  Beautiful desserts to wrap our our dinner.

Dessert:  Molten Chocolate Lava Cake with House Made Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
Beautiful and delicious!

Highly recommended to ask for a reservation, it is a small bistro with limited seats. Tables are relatively small too so I would say it's better to go with your loved one or in a small group rather than big party.
You won't be disappointed!!  Highly recommended this little gem if you look for a cozy and warm atmosphere place for a taste of French!  We will definitely be back in the near future for more different dishes.
