604 Just Eat: Japanese Cuisine @ Raisu

April 9th, 2017

Raisu @ Kitsilano

Food:  4/5   Service:  4/5   Atmosphere:  4/5   Price:  Avg. $60 person

Upon arrival to the door entrance, to my surprise, there was actually line up already waiting to open at 5:30pm!  This was a good sign to the food quality 😏?  I was very excited because it took me long to come finally after we have heard all the buzz about this place and the pictures allover on IG and other social media.  We went to Raisu with our good friends who also are foodies!  Now I understand why our friend booked our table at 530pm,  there are several specials that are in limited serving so we ordered them right away after being seated.  Aside the signature dishes, other dishes on the menu look comparatively less interesting, more like regular items.  Highly recommended to have reservation in advance and GO EARLIER!  Still drooling when looking the food pictures again!
We were seated the nice outdoor seating area, love it!

Deluxe Seafood Bowl @ $34
Drooling!  Beautifully plated sashimi rice bowl that taste very fresh and high quality seafood.  The sweet shrimp "Amaebi" were sooooooo good.  Although the price was higher compared with the "Chirashi don" at other Japanese restaurants, the portions of the seafood were very generous.

The Oceans Offerings @ $24
Limted to 10 servings per lunch and dinner, allow 30 minutes for preparation
Cured with salt and vinegar, varieties of daily pressed seafood sushi, steamed to perfection and topped with shiso herb salmon caviar, and crab miso butter.

Beautifully plated dish variety of pressed sushi.  Taste good!

Sho Ka Do Bento @ $27
Limited to 15 servings per lunch and dinner
Another beautiful food presentation dish but I wasn't WOWed by the taste.  Maybe it was just me, I could not remember the taste of each small dish at all.

Minced Meat Cutlet @ $12
100% premium wagyu beef minced meat cutlet fried with fresh panko breading, served with a triad of complimentary sauces

Not bad!  I love the sauce.

Seafood "Donabe Takikomi" Rice @ 24
Limited to 10 servings per day
Seaurchin and snow crab on broth rice, resting in a -Donabe- "Japanese clay pot"
It looks like bibimbap in Japanese version.

Delish!

Wagyu Beef Shabu Shabu Udon @ $18

Adding piping hot broth to the bowl of beef and udon.

Ready to serve now!  It looks like Vietnamese Pho in Japanese taste.  I like the rice more than this udon.

Dessert time!  Sweet ending to our wonderful dinner.  Forgot to take a photo of the dessert menu so I tried my best to recall what they were.
Creme Brulee I think, pretty standard one.

Japanese style dessert, Uji Matcha cake!!  The egg roll was light and soft with the cream and matcha powder.

Japanese style souffle cheesecake, delicious!

When I looked at the food pictures again,  they were all masterpieces, lovely and beautiful food presentation.  The service was attentive and wonderful.  Great drinks menu.  My favorite was the deluxe sashimi bowl with fresh and delicious sashimi.  We will be back again to try their other selections.
