604 Just Eat: Italian Cuisine @ Senova Italian Ristorante

July 26th, 2016

Senova Italian Ristorante @ Kerrisdale

Food:  3/5   Service:  2.5/5   Atmosphere: 3.5/5   Price:  Avg. $24 person

My friends and I came Senova for the Tuesday specials, all pasta for $12!  Senova is an Italian restaurant located on W 57th Ave in the quiet and relaxing Kerrisdale area.  The restaurant was packed with people for dinner., luckily we made reservation in advance.  This nice restaurant features an opened kitchen so you can watch the chef and staff preparing and cooking the dishes.  I was sitting near the open kitchen and it was supposed to be very interesting.  BUT, it was very hot that day which means even hotter near the oven all time baking pizza.  The food in general was mediore and I agreed with reviews about the service.  The service was not very good at all,  it was relatively slow no matter about water refill, food and bills.

Flatbread
Fresh and puffy, delicious!

Linguine alla Vongole @ $ 22 (Tuesday @ $12)
Smoked BC samon, white wine and cream
Taste was good, not impressive.  Salmon overcooked.

Spaghettini Primavera @ $21 (Tuesday @ $12)
Fresh basil and tomato sauce with seasonal vegetables
The pasta was average good.

Cozze alla Marinara @ $14
Fresh mussels steamed in a white wine, shallot tomato broth
Very standard and not cheap in this portion.

Capricciosa @ $16
Tomato sauce, mozzarella, ham, salami, artichokes, black olives, mushroom, parmesan, herbs
Great selections of pizzas.  I like our pizza with anchovies, crispy crust with lots of toppings, my favorite dish of the dinner.

It is worth checking it out the Tuesday speicals if you never been here before.  Otherwise, there are a lot better choices out there in town in terms of the food quality and service.
